Christopher J. Byrne is a visual director / producer known for his innovative approach to storytelling and his distinctive style across film and television. With over two decades of experience in the industry, Christopher has developed a reputation for bringing bold visual concepts to life while maintaining a deep commitment to character-driven narratives.

His career began in Canada the 1990s when he joined both the Directors Guild of Canada and the American Federation of Musicians as a composer.  Christopher transitioned from Television and film production as a 1st AD into commercial production working with international clients eventually becoming a director with Tendril Animation studios.  These experiences shaped his unique perspective on visual storytelling.  His passion for music, and scoring informs his visual sensibilities.

Christopher's breakthrough as a visual director came with his work on NBC's Hannibal (2013), where he played a pivotal role in crafting the show’s hauntingly poetic visual aesthetic alongside Showrunner Bryan Fuller. His ability to blend cinematic artistry with meticulous technical execution garnered attention and led to subsequent high-profile projects, including 12 Monkeys, Star Trek: Discovery, American Gods, Jupiter's Legacy, Clarice And Strange new Worlds .   In 2022 Christopher was invited to work alongside Craig Mazin to to complete the first season of theHBO series The Last of Us.   The following year fulfilled a dream of becoming part of the exceptional team of Apple TV’s epic space opera FOUNDATION where he served as executive producer and director of several episodes.

Christopher’s expertise lies in his love of collaboration.  Feeding on the collective sharing of ideas and harnessing the power of visual language to enhance the emotional depth of a story.  Whether acting as director or producer he is known for his ability to shape the look and feel of a show, as well as promoting a positive work experience for cast and crew. 

Christopher has recently returned from working in the UK as the executive producer and pilot director of VisionQuest, for Marvel Television.    He is represented by Ryan Tracey at CAA and lives in Toronto, Canada with his wife and two daughters.
